Guess the Mega Trend at the Installer Show this Summer?

If you were at the NEC Birmingham for the Installer Show this summer, you probably couldn't miss the biggest trend sweeping the industry, or rather, you couldn't hear it.

Quiet is officially in.

Installers know that even the faintest squeak from an ageing extractor fan can risk customer complaints and lost contracts. Nobody wants grumbling old heat or water pumps rattling away in the background. Across the sector, there’s growing recognition that protecting homes from unwanted noise is now non-negotiable.

The mood on the show floor made that clear. Arsenal football legend Freddie Ljungberg was spotted “doing the sssshh” with NIBE, underlining their commitment to quiet technology. Top interiors TV expert Michelle Ogundehin lent her voice to the message, while major Quiet Mark Certified brands showcased noise-reducing solutions in partnership with store groups like City Plumbing. Installer favourites like Heat Geeks joined in, even giant spanner mascots were there to keep things fun while spreading the word.

Quieter heat pumps were a particularly important focus at the show too, with many brands highlighting advances in low-noise performance to meet customer expectations. It’s a growing priority across the sector, and you can read more in our recent piece on The 11 Quietest Heat Pumps on the Market, Tested by the Experts.

The message to the industry? Stay Quiet, Stay Relevant.

Whether you’re specifying for new builds or retrofits, reducing noise isn’t just a nice extra, it’s what customers expect. That’s why more and more brands are getting serious about acoustic performance, investing in certification and making quiet technology the standard.
