Grand Designs Live: Ask an Expert Weekend 2021 is a brand-new virtual event taking place on 22 and 23 May. Whether you are building your home from scratch, are working on a home extension, or are planning to update your kitchen, this two-day event will provide you with all the advice you need to make your home project a success.

Quiet Mark’s Acoustics Academy was an official  Event Partner, bringing acoustics improving product experts from BASWA acoustic (Ceilings), BuzziSpace (Furniture and Lighting), Grohe (Bathrooms), Karndean Designflooring (Flooring), ROCKWOOL (Insulation), Novy (Kitchens and Appliances), and Vaillant (Heating and Heat Pumps), to discuss attendees own grand design in free consultations.

The Grand Designs Live - Ask an Expert online platform

Being an online event, attendees were able to enjoy their consultations from the comfort of their own homes, via Zoom-style video conferencing.  A LinkedIn-style platform enabled visitors to share project plans, ask questions and discover recommendations.

The platform was intuitive and simple to use. Attendees were able to browse brands, their videos, product directories and case studies, before booking a consultation. The brands were also able to connect with the Attendees, and then, once their invite had been accepted, approach them, via a messaging function, to find out whether they’d like to book a session with them.

Just like a real live event, there were also expert speaker sessions, on a variety of home improvement, renovation, and self build subjects. Grand Designs Presenter, Kevin McCloud, was even on hand, talking about ‘Building for a Sustainable Future’ and ‘The Road Map to Self Build’, exploring the question: Is self-build cheaper than buying and is it worth the time and effort?
