The Quietest Fans from the UK's Largest Retailers

The Quietest Fans from the UK's Largest Retailers

Last month saw temperatures soar to 28.6C in the UK, with forecasts for more hot weather in the months ahead. A Quiet Mark certified fan will help to keep you cool without causing disturbance.

Quiet Mark tests a wide range of fans, with between only 10% to 20% of the quietest, best performing products achieving Quiet Mark certification. Brands whose fan have passed our Technical Team’s assessments include, Devola, Dimplex, Duux, Dyson, GeoSmartPro, Honeywell, Meaco and NSAuk. Model types vary from tower to pedestal to desktop, to suit different needs and room sizes.

In recent years, Quiet Mark has drawn together a unique alliance of leading retailers partners, including Argos, Asda, Currys PC World, John Lewis & PartnersLakeland, Littlewoods and Very. Dedicated Quiet Mark pages, category banners and use of our distinctive Q logo on their websites make it easier for millions of consumers to find and buy the quietest appliances available on the market.

Encouraging consumers to buy quiet also supports their health and wellbeing - combating stressful noise.  According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), excessive noise seriously harms human health and “interferes with people’s daily activities at school, at work, at home and during leisure time”.

With the rise of Work From Home during lockdown and reports of many major companies closing down their offices and continuing the home-working trend post-pandemic, BBC News recently visited Quiet Mark headquarters to meet with our CEO & Co-Founder, Poppy Szkiler, and gain insight into how we assess and certify products and the well-being benefits of an improved domestic soundscape.

During a detailed Quiet Mark report that was covered on BBC News, Online, Radio and World Services, John Lewis’ Technology Director, Laurence Mitchell shared that, “JohnLewis.com now receives more than 10,000 searches per month for appliances that include the term "quiet".

As the nation has embraced and adapted to the WFH era, we’ve also noticed a significant uplift in newspaper, magazine and online press mentions of Quiet Mark in product polls and reviews, with journalists listing our product certification as key purchase decision making factor.

We have also seen an increase in Quiet Mark certified brands featured in lists for “best products”.

T3.com recently published an article titled “Shhhh. These are the world's quietest fans, certified by Quiet Mark” in which it lists seven Quiet Mark certified fans - describing them as “especially useful when you’re trying to sleep”.

Quiet Mark certified fans also made the list in THE EDIT by Real Homes magazine.  The article featured seven accredited fans, with their top spot going to the MeacoFan 1056 air circulator, which was described as “perfect for keeping at your bed or desk so you can stay comfortable without the noise interrupting your dreams or Zoom calls.” Newly Quiet Mark certified brands Duux and Honeywell also made the cut.

The Express also featured four Quiet Mark certified fans in their article titled “12 best fans to keep you cool all through summer”, in which the Dyson Hot + Cool AM09 was branded “Best heating and cooling fan”.
